Water Damage Mitigation
On August 24, 2011 ServiceMaster Emergency Services by Covington presented a continuing education class for Agents, Adjusters, Property Managers etc. entitled Water Damage Mitigation. In addition to providing 3 (three) continuing education credits for Washington and Idaho the objective of this class was to inform and educate our partners regarding water mitigation in an effort to improve customer service and improve loss ratios.
The class agenda covered:
Mitigating Water Damaged Carpet
Mitigating Water Damaged Floors
Mitigation Water Damaged Walls & Ceiling
Through a combination of hands on demonstration, props, videos and sharing of actual water damage experiences the attendees developed an appreciation for how fast water can damage a property if mitigation is delayed.
Upon the conclusion of the class the attendees were asked to provide some comments to a few questions. Following is a summary of their comments.
What is your overall feeling about our presentation?
Very engaging and interactive. Appreciated being able to see samples of materials, tools and mitigation processes.
I really enjoyed the class. Great visuals, upbeat, interesting, hands on.
The class was so interesting that I would like to have all of our office staff attend one. It was very informative.
I loved it, was interesting and hands on.
What was the most important information you learned from our presentation?
I was so impressed with the modern technology that they use to lessen damage to the home if detected early enough.
To act quickly in order to avoid costly increase in damage.
How much water travels and the need to mitigate as quickly as possible
Knowing how much damage there could be without being seen to the naked eye along with the touch of a hand.
How will the above information benefit your company?
I feel we could all learn from this class to help inform our customers of the importance of early notice so the ratio will be kept down.
New information always handy (it is Power). Can visualize how water may travel.
Helping our clients understand more when talking to them.
Better understanding of mitigation processes and techniques helps me to be able to work quickly and more efficiently.
